Resources for Parents: Talking with Children about Violence

Dear Restoration Parents,

Know that I am praying for you in the aftermath of the devastating event at Annunciation yesterday. If you, like me, would benefit from practical resources on talking with your child about violence, please see the compilation of links below.

Video (6 mins): How to talk to your kids after a school shooting
Sissy Goff, M. Ed., Lpc-MHSP Sissy is located in Nashville and she made this video after the tragedy at the Covenant School.
Her main points are: Stay Calm // Be the Source // Let them lead // Give them space to feel // It's okay to feel with them, not to process with them //
My family benefited from the practical ideas for children going to school—you can hear them at 3:42.

Jesus said if I am weak
I should come to Him
No one else can be my strength
I should come to Him

For the Lord is good and faithful
He will keep us day and night
We can always run to Jesus
Jesus strong and kind

Jesus said if I am lost
He will come to me
And He showed me on that cross
He will come to me”

In Jesus,
Emily

The Victorious Christ

The Victorious Christ

You might have noticed a new song that premiered at our Easter Vigil and Easter Sunday services, “The Victorious Christ”, written by Derek Boemler and Travis Ham. This came partially as a result of working out the practical implications of Fleming Rutledge’s The Crucifixion, a text the staff has been reading and discussing for much of this ministry year.. We’ll be singing this song together throughout the season of Easter and beyond. Please feel free to download and share!

Invitation to Lent 2025

Invitation to Lent 2025

The season of Epiphany is drawing to a close, and Lent is just around the corner. Lent, the 40 days between Ash Wednesday and Easter, is a spiritual pilgrimage; it is a great fast before the great feast; it is a giving up and a putting on; it is prayerful and slow; it is ancient and new. I encourage you to enter into Lent with intentionality and anticipation.
